Gabel: I’m self-taught, and get much of my inspiration from other sculptors. I’ve been sculpting for the past 5 years, and owe my ability to God. I create sculptures, or should I say re-create what God has already created. “Out
of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” Matthew 12:34 |

Gabel:
Born in Great Falls, Montana in 1955, I have spent most of my life in Arizona. I am a self-taught artist, and received an excellent foundation from my high school art teacher Mrs. Norris. God bless her! I was in those days what you would call a hellion, and I just wish she could see me now. She would probably faint. She must have sensed my love of art and saw ability in me, and for that I will be eternally grateful. My passion for art was set aside to raise 3 children; my exploration resumed in 1989. It continues to amaze how as a piece is birthed, as it grows and changes how I develop a strong attachment to each one. I love the various phases of expression; I know I cannot be boxed in to any one particular style or medium; I feel free to view each of my pieces as an exciting adventure. It makes for a rich, rewarding journey to do what you love. Painting in my dreams is how my creativity is sparked, then capturing that moment through color, line, texture and movement. |
